Balochistan under Fire

On Tuesday 15.11.2005 an explosion occurred in Karachi which resulted in several deaths and sever injuries to innocent people.

Apparently a person from Quetta with a bogus name of Chakar Baloch as a BLA commander phoned BBC and declared that BLA carried out the blast.

Balochistan Rights Watch is extremely concerned on the deteriorating political situation in Balochistan of Pakistan. As for Mr Chakar Baloch, it is widely believed that no such Baloch commander exists. Therefore there is uncertainty on acceptance of the atrocious act of bombing innocent people. A brief glance on past explosions that BLA accepted so far evidently rejects taking any such responsibility. The BLA explosions have been carried out in certain non-civilian areas and some infrastructural amenities with no human casualties.

Only yesterday leader of Jamhori Watan Party, Nawab Akbar Bugtti expressed his fear on an imminent military operation in Balochistan by the Pakistani Army.

Balochistan Rights Watch has been monitoring with great interest the unfolding confrontational situation in Balochistan for the past year. It is convinced there are hawkish elements in the Pakistani Army determined to crush the resistance in Balochistan with their mighty feast despite ongoing political efforts of political parties of Balochistan to bring an end to the current tense situation in Balochistan by negotiation and meaningful dialog. It is feared that there are every intention on Pakistani Army's part to demonize Baloch resistance in international community and pave the way for its wipe-out so the legitimate demands of Balochistan ignored and denied.

Balochistan Rights Watch urges every world leader, and everyone in Pakistan to stop Pakistani Army from any military onslaughts on Baloch resistance, and to demand recognition of democratic rights of Baloch people in Pakistan
